Project AED365 and Smart Heart Sports Coalition: Protecting Student-Athletes from Sudden Cardiac Arrest

Sudden cardiac arrest (SCA) is the leading cause of death among student-athletes, making immediate access to automated external defibrillators (AEDs) a critical necessity for schools and youth sports organizations.

To further its commitment to public safety, Coro Medical launched Project AED365—an ambitious nationwide initiative to donate 365 AEDs throughout 2025, ensuring communities, schools, and organizations have access to the tools needed to save lives.

Project AED365: One AED Every Day for a Year

Project AED365 is designed to increase AED accessibility in high-risk environments like schools, athletic facilities, and community centers. From January 1st through December 31st, 2025, Coro Medical will donate an AED to a selected organization or individual each day, reinforcing its dedication to preventing tragedies caused by sudden cardiac arrest.

Partnerships for Greater Impact

To make this initiative even more impactful, Coro Medical is collaborating with industry leaders to provide additional lifesaving training and equipment:

  • ZOLL Medical: Each donated AED will be a ZOLL AED 3, a cutting-edge defibrillator that provides real-time CPR feedback and easy-to-follow voice and visual instructions to guide rescuers through the lifesaving process.
  • HSI: Each recipient will also receive a free Remote Skill Verification (RSV) training session, offering live, instructor-led CPR, AED, and First Aid certification to ensure communities are prepared to respond confidently in emergencies.
  • LifeVac: To further strengthen emergency preparedness, each donated AED will be paired with a LifeVac airway clearance device, an innovative, non-powered device designed to assist in choking emergencies.
  • AED365: To ensure your AED(s) compliance and readiness, three years of AED 365 Pro Program Management are included in the donation.

Why This Matters

The Sudden Cardiac Arrest Foundation reports that SCA survival rates can exceed 70% when an AED is used within two minutes. However, too many schools and sports facilities lack these lifesaving devices, putting student-athletes at unnecessary risk. By increasing AED accessibility and providing training, Project AED365 is empowering communities to take action and save lives.

How Schools and Organizations Can Apply

Schools, youth sports programs, and community organizations are encouraged to apply for a free donation through Project AED365. If additional AEDs are needed, Coro Medical also offers them at discounted prices through the Smart Heart Sports Coalition’s AEDs for Youth program

A Lifesaving Commitment

Through its partnership with the NFL’s Smart Heart Sports Coalition, Coro Medical is reinforcing its mission to protect student-athletes and communities from the dangers of sudden cardiac arrest. Project AED365 is more than an initiative—it’s a movement to ensure no life is lost due to a lack of accessible emergency equipment.
